The White House: The U.S. Will No Longer "Write Blank Checks for War"
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt announced that the new U.S. administration is altering its approach to the conflict in Ukraine, now focusing on achieving lasting peace.
This is reported by RBK-Ukraine.
According to her, during a meeting in the Oval Office between U.S. President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, tensions arose as the Ukrainian leader did not show readiness to accept the current realities of the war.
“We will no longer write blank checks for a war that is far from us, without prospects for long-term peace. This is what the president is striving for,” Levitt emphasized.
She also pointed out that Zelensky did not express sufficient gratitude for U.S. support, which affected the signing of a significant economic agreement.
Levitt stressed that Trump remains committed to peaceful negotiations, but progress is only possible if the Ukrainian leader changes his stance. She stated that the U.S. president has made it clear that he will not back down when it comes to the interests of the American people.
