On Sunday, January 19, Orthodox Christians who follow the new Julian calendar celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This is reported by a correspondent from Novosti-N.
On this day, traditional Epiphany bathing takes place: believers immerse themselves in cold water, symbolizing the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan. Among the faithful, there is a belief that during such bathing, all sins accumulated over the year are washed away.
This year, there was not the same level of participation as in previous years; however, groups of people and individual citizens periodically arrived at the river near the Yacht Club, at Namyv, and at the spring in the "Bogoyavlensky" park to dip into the cold January water. Our correspondent managed to capture several moments of these baptisms.
