The United States of America has presented a document to the UN General Assembly that they believe could put an end to the war in Ukraine and "lead to lasting peace."

This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Rubio emphasized that the US president is determined to end the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine and to find a solution that "leads to lasting peace, not just a temporary pause."

The USA has proposed a "historic resolution" to the UN and is asking for support from all member states to pave the "way to peace."

"The United States has put forward a simple historic resolution to the UN, which we urge all member states to support in order to pave the way to peace. This resolution aligns with President Trump's view that the UN should return to its core mission as outlined in the UN Charter — to maintain international peace and security, including through the peaceful resolution of disputes. If the United Nations is truly committed to its original purpose, we must acknowledge that, despite potential challenges, the goal of lasting peace remains attainable. By supporting this resolution, we assert that this conflict is dreadful, that the UN can help bring it to an end, and that peace is possible," the Secretary of State wrote.

He also referred to this document as a "real impetus for peace."
