How much do Christmas trees cost in Mykolaiv
It has been revealed how much Christmas trees will cost in Mykolaiv, what documents sellers must have for legal trading, and how to verify the legality of their harvesting.
Details were shared by the chief forester of the "Southern Forest Office" branch, Vasyl Doroshuk, as reported by Suspilne.
According to him, Christmas tree plantations are established in the autumn and spring. In a five-year-old plantation, trees can reach up to one meter in height. To grow to two or three meters, a tree needs over ten years.
"A tree that is about 1.5 meters tall will cost 220 hryvnias after being cut, while a tree under one meter costs 200 hryvnias," the forester clarifies.
A barcode must be attached to each tree before sale. This confirms that the pine or spruce was harvested legally, notes Doroshuk.
"There are cases of illegal logging of Christmas trees, with the minimum fine for one tree being 265 hryvnias and 82 kopecks. If a tree is cut during the winter period (December-January), the fine triples," Vasyl Doroshuk explains.
Director of the Economic Development Department of the Mykolaiv City Council, Tatiana Shulichenko, reports that the executive committee has approved 68 locations for selling Christmas trees: 26 in the Zavodskyi district, 20 in the Ingulskyi district, 16 in the Central district, and 6 in the Korabelnyi district. Unauthorized trading is recommended to be monitored by the Main Directorate of the National Police. For legal trading, sellers must have the appropriate documents.
"The seller must have a declaration of the working regime, a waste removal contract, and Christmas trees with microchip barcodes. Additionally, the entrepreneur must possess documents required by current Ukrainian legislation for conducting business," Tatiana Shulichenko specifies.
A local resident, Tatiana, mentions that the scent of coniferous trees is appealing, but she considers purchasing a tree this year to be an unnecessary expense.
"We won't buy a tree; I'd rather donate that money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and this year we'll do without a tree," Tatiana shares.
Seller Hennadiy offers only pines, with prices ranging from 500 to 1500 hryvnias depending on the size and volume of the tree.
"A two-meter tree without branches will cost less than a fuller and more expensive one," Hennadiy explains.
The pines do not have tags with barcodes, but the seller assures that all products are documented.
"I was told that tags are not necessary for pines; all necessary documents are available," says Hennadiy.
Saleswoman Olga offers trees priced from 150 to 1400 hryvnias. She explains that her employer grows the trees himself and has all the necessary documents for their sale.
"I cannot show the documents without the owner, but we do show them to customers and also issue receipts with a stamp, date, quantity of trees, and price," Olga clarifies.
Mykolaiv resident Anzhelika purchased an artificial tree a few years ago.
"We bought real trees our whole lives, but now, for the sake of saving money, we started using artificial ones, and we only admire how beautiful the real ones are," Anzhelika says.
