This information was reported by “Public” citing the Western Region Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Defense and lawyer Oleg Poberezhnyuk – Mykola Omelyanyuk.
It is currently unclear whether Oleg Poberezhnyuk paid the bail himself or if it was paid on his behalf, according to the prosecutor's office.
The prosecutor's office also stated that while the payment was being processed, Oleg Poberezhnyuk was held overnight in the Terebovlia temporary detention facility. He was released on December 20. The source of the bail funds remains unknown.
Previously, journalists from "Ukrainian Truth" published an investigation detailing nepotism and abuses within the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that he had contacted the General Staff and the Military Law Enforcement Service regarding this issue and is personally overseeing the situation.
Commander Oleg Poberezhnyuk has been suspected of abusing his official position. According to the investigation, he involved subordinate soldiers in the construction of his private house in Khmelnytskyi region.
In addition to the accusations of abuse of official position, the investigation is also looking into possible instances of physical violence and mistreatment of subordinates by officers of the brigade.
