A Russian actor has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in Ukraine
A Ukrainian court has sentenced Dmitry Pevtsov, a Russian actor known for "Bandit Petersburg," to 10 years of imprisonment in absentia for calling for the seizure of Ukraine.
This information has been reported by the SBU.
It is noted that the convicted individual is a deputy in the State Duma of Russia and is among the circle of Kremlin-affiliated "public figures" who openly support the full-scale invasion.
Evidence has been documented showing that Pevtsov repeatedly spread anti-Ukrainian narratives during mass events featuring Putin.
He also frequently appeared on central Russian television channels, where he called for the seizure of state power and the entire territory of Ukraine.
Furthermore, in interviews with Russian propagandists, Pevtsov claimed that he personally "voted for the annexation" of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine to Russia.
He also denied the war crimes committed by the Russian army in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine, particularly in Mariupol.
Based on the evidence collected by investigators from the Security Service, the court found Pevtsov guilty in absentia on three counts of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 3, Article 109 (actions aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power);
- Part 2, Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
- Article 436 (propaganda of war).
The offender has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
