A company in the Mykolaiv region discharged 1.6 tons of fats and oils into the Southern Bug River.

The KP "Pribuzske" illegally discharged 1.6 tons of pollutants (fats and oils) into the Southern Bug River; after four years, the violator was held accountable in court.

According to the State Environmental Inspection of the southwestern region, an unscheduled inspection of KP "Pribuzske" was conducted back in February 2020. The results revealed serious violations in the area of water resource protection: the company unlawfully discharged 1.6 tons of pollutants (fats and oils) from its treatment facilities into the Southern Bug River. This discharge did not comply with the conditions of the special water use permit.

Additionally, discharges of return waters containing pollutants exceeding the established limits of maximum permissible discharges were recorded.

The damage caused to the state amounts to 11.4 million hryvnias.

"In July 2024, the Economic Court of Mykolaiv region made a ruling that was subsequently appealed. Thanks to the appellate proceedings, the Southwestern Appellate Economic Court ordered KP 'Pribuzske' to compensate the state for the damage. Court rulings have been sent to the State Enforcement Service to take measures for the recovery of the damage," the statement said.
