Israel has announced the start of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
Israel has declared the commencement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The halt in hostilities was made possible after Hamas provided a list of the first hostages that are to be released on January 19.
This information was reported by The Times of Israel.
Following the submission of the list of hostages scheduled for release today by Hamas, Israel announced that the ceasefire would take effect at 11:15.
Initially, the first phase of the ceasefire was set to begin today at 8:30. However, it was postponed due to Hamas delaying the submission of the names of three female hostages who are to be released today.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they continued to strike Hamas terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip over the past two hours.
