The Russian Armed Forces camouflaged a tank as part of a forest, but failed to deceive defenders, according to Forbes (video).

Russian invaders have personally upgraded an old tank, transforming it into an armored assault vehicle. However, this remarkable piece of machinery could not withstand a single catastrophic blow.

Russian occupiers have constructed an armored assault vehicle by welding thin metal onto an old tank and attaching logs to it. This remarkable piece of machinery was dispatched to the area near the village of Velikaya Novoselka in the Donetsk region, but it did not serve the enemy for long. This was reported by Forbes on February 2.

The invaders designed a tank out of logs to protect one of their vehicles. Estonian analyst WarTranslated noted that the vehicle withstood drone attacks, but not strikes from modern artillery. The Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded the vehicle immobilized and abandoned in the middle of a dirt road near Bolshaya Novoselka.

The endurance of the "wooden tank" under drone attacks was compared to that of the Leopard 1A5, which endured at least 8 drone strikes before suffering catastrophic damage. The layers of additional armor can dull the impact of FPV drones and their explosive charges. However, it cannot stop an artillery shell.

It is noted that the assault vehicle was built by Russian soldiers themselves, who proudly showcased their work. Metal sides covered with thick rubber were attached to the tank. They placed logs between the armored capsule and the external lattice armor, and the roof was welded with sheet metal. The doors on the hinges were also reinforced with bricks.

"All this armor was sufficient to fend off FPV drones, which fly at just a few dozen miles per hour and often hit their targets from the side. But artillery shells travel almost vertically at a speed of a mile per second — and can penetrate the vehicle's top armor, which is usually the thinnest," the publication explained.

However, it is reported that the sacrifice was not in vain. The offensive by the Russian Armed Forces yielded results; Velikaya Novoselka was captured by the enemy. After entering the village and consolidating their control over it, the occupiers continued their advance to the north and west. On the morning of February 2, Russia launched a large-scale assault involving about 20 vehicles, but 7 of them were knocked out, and the operation failed.

Recall that OSINT researcher Special Kherson Cat reported on a new "fierce" BMP reinforced with iron, logs, and bundles of wire. It was noted that the vehicle is located in the area of Chasovoy Yar.

On the night of February 3, Russia was attacked by dozens of drones. In one of the cities, around 50 explosions were heard, and power went out in several areas, with enemy factories coming under fire.
