Drones targeted an aircraft factory in Kazan, Russia, leading to widespread attacks and explosions heard across several regions. (video)

On the night of January 20, Russian Telegram channels reported explosions in Tatarstan. According to local residents, strike drones targeted the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S. P. Gorbunov.

According to Russian media, one of the drones hit an empty tank on the premises of the Gorbunov Aviation Plant. This facility is one of the largest aviation plants in the Russian Federation. It manufactures and repairs strategic bombers Tu-160, long-range bombers Tu-22M3M/Tu-22M3, which are used in the war against Ukraine, as well as civilian Tu-204 aircraft. The factory's airfield "Borisoglebskoye" is also located nearby.

The Russian Telegram channel Mash wrote that Kazan was attacked by drones of the "Lyuty" type. Eyewitnesses reported hearing three waves of explosions, the last one around 6:50 AM.

The press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, reported an "attempted attack by enemy drones" on the industrial facility and confirmed that all targets were neutralized.

Representatives of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) announced restrictions on flights of civilian aircraft at Kazan Airport.

"The air harbor is temporarily not accepting or dispatching flights," the agency stated.

Flight restrictions were also imposed at the airports of Nizhnekamsk and Izhevsk.

The Russian city of Bryansk was also under attack. The Governor of Bryansk Region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported the downing of 4 HIMARS rockets and 14 drones, assuring that there were no casualties or destruction.

Local residents in Ryazan heard at least 3 explosions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of January 20, 31 Ukrainian drones were neutralized: 14 over Bryansk region, six over Kaluga, three over Belgorod and Kursk, two over Ryazan and Oryol regions, and one over the Republic of Tatarstan.

As of the publication of this material, there was no information about strikes on military facilities in the Russian Federation by Ukrainian defense forces.

Recall that on the night of January 18, drones attacked the Tula region of Russia. The Governor of Tula Region, Alexey Dyumin, confirmed that a fire broke out at one of the local enterprises as a result of the attack.
