On the night of February 23, Russian occupation forces launched strikes on Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia using Shahed-type attack drones, resulting in destruction in both cities. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, reported the attack on Kyiv.
Initially, Klitschko mentioned multiple times that air defense forces were active in the center of Kyiv and its surrounding areas, but by midnight, he stated that debris from a "Shahed" was found in the territory of the National Botanical Garden named after Mykola Hryshko.
Later, the mayor of Kyiv informed that a fire broke out in a private house in the Holosiivskyi district due to the falling debris of the drone. Additionally, another district of the capital also suffered damage.
"In the Darnytskyi district, where the drone debris fell, three private houses and several cars were damaged," — wrote Klitschko.
The information regarding the damages in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv was also confirmed by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
At the time of publishing this material, there was no information about casualties from the enemy attack in Kyiv, while "Shaheds" continued to enter the city.
"Air defense forces are active again in Obolon. Enemy drones are still approaching the city," — wrote Klitschko at 16:42.
Meanwhile, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported around 1 AM that Russian occupiers were attacking Zaporizhzhia.
"A fire occurred in the private sector. Windows in several high-rise buildings were damaged," — Fedorov wrote.
He later clarified that a 53-year-old woman was injured due to the Russian strike and is receiving medical assistance.
