U.S. President Donald Trump is confident that he can reach an agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war within the next week. This was stated to reporters by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, writes The Hill.
"The president and his team are very focused on continuing negotiations with both sides of this war to bring an end to the conflict, and the president is very confident that we can accomplish this this week," Levitt said.
According to her, National Security Advisor Matt Waltz will be working on the agreement "around the clock" this weekend.
Levitt also emphasized that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was involved in discussions with the Ukrainian side regarding the proposed agreement on mineral extraction.
"When it comes to critical minerals, this is an important aspect for the president. It is crucial for the president because it will allow for the return of American taxes. Additionally, it will be a significant economic partnership between the United States and the Ukrainian people, who are rebuilding their country after this brutal war," Levitt highlighted.
Recall that on February 22, Reuters published a report stating that Ukraine will be disconnected from Starlink if it does not sign an agreement on rare earth minerals.
On the same day, Donald Trump stated that either Ukraine signs the agreement on rare earth minerals or Kyiv will face "problems."
