Night attack by Russian "Shaheds": which regions were protected by air defense forces and where were the strikes recorded?

On the evening of March 2, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about several waves of launches of Russian kamikaze drones "Shahed." Air raid alerts sounded twice in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. The first alert was from 20:58 to 23:30, and the second from 23:50 to 4:55. One of the waves passed through the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions: the alert began at 22:22 and ended at 0:44. In a series of messages, the command informed about the looping of drones over central and other regions. Specifically, the following areas were mentioned:

1. Chernihiv;
2. Sumy;
3. Kharkiv;
4. Dnipropetrovsk;
5. Zaporizhia;
6. Poltava;
7. Cherkasy;
8. Kherson;
9. Kiev;
10. Mykolaiv;
11. Vinnytsia;
12. Zhytomyr;
13. Kirovohrad.

In one of the latest messages from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, released at 4:16, it was reported about a "Shahed" kamikaze drone flying over the Kyiv region from east to west.

At 8:24, the Air Command reported on the nighttime drone attack. According to the command's data, the Russians launched 83 "Shahed" drones at Ukraine, originating from Oryol, Millerovo, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. As of 8:30, there is information about the neutralization of a total of 77 drones:

• 46 — shot down;
• 31 — locally lost.

The report mentions six regions affected by the enemy attack — Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia.

Details of the Night Strike by Russia

The Kyiv City Military Administration warned of an air threat in Kyiv at 3:11. In a note from the military administration, it is indicated that citizens should take shelter. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported at 0:40 about the operation of air defense systems. There was no information regarding the consequences of the Russian attack.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported in the morning wrote that seven Russian drones were shot down over the region. Kryvyi Rih was under attack. As a result of the Russian strike, a woman was injured and received assistance. Additionally, a fire broke out, affecting an industrial enterprise, a hospital, six high-rise buildings, and vehicles, the official explained.

Leaders of the Sumy, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhia regions informed about the current situation in their areas, but did not provide information on the operation of air defense or the consequences of the Russian strike.

It is worth noting that on February 27, the Russian Armed Forces struck Zaporizhia and hit the upper floor of an apartment building. According to the military administration, an 80-year-old woman was injured. Photos from the scene show a destroyed room: window frames blown out, broken furniture, and personal belongings scattered.
