For the first time, the IAEA replaced observers at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant without coordinating with Ukraine.

According to reports from Russian media, the route for the rotation of IAEA members passed through the territory of the Russian Federation. However, a journalist from Radio Free Europe claims that it likely traversed the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has, for the first time since the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, rotated its observers at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant without Ukraine's approval. This was reported by Radio Free Europe correspondent Rikard Jozwiak.

"What seemed impossible just a few days ago has happened. The IAEA deployed its personnel to the Zaporizhzhia NPP through territory occupied by Russia without Ukrainian consent," Jozwiak wrote.

Moreover, the day before, Jozwiak heard that the IAEA would be changing observers at the Zaporizhzhia NPP exclusively through the occupied territory of Ukraine—most likely through Crimea.

"Without Ukraine's consent and contrary to warnings from the EU. A bold move by Rafael Grossi, who is aiming to become the next Secretary-General of the UN," Jozwiak emphasized.

At the same time, the Russian propaganda outlet "RIA Novosti," citing "Rosatom," reported that the rotation of observers at the Zaporizhzhia NPP indeed took place.

"The route for the rotation of observers passed through Russian territory for the first time," the publication states.

At the time of publishing this material, the IAEA had not commented on the information regarding the rotation of its observers at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Recall that on February 4, the IAEA supported the completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.

In November 2024, there was a water leak at one of the reactors of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
