A resident of the Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 3 years in prison for evading military service.
In the Mykolaiv region, a man was tried for purchasing medical certificates for $8,000 in order to be removed from the list of those liable for military service.
This information is detailed in the verdict of the Novoodesky District Court, which was published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
According to the case materials, the defendant contacted an organized crime group that had personal connections and corrupt ties within government agencies and medical institutions in Mykolaiv. The members of this group, for a fee, "assisted" those liable for military service in illegally crossing the state border by selling them documents certifying their unfitness for military service and removing them from military records.
The man paid $8,000 for the forged documents. Based on these documents, he was removed from the list of those liable for military service due to health reasons. However, the deception was uncovered.
The man was detained and was charged under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for evading conscription during mobilization.
During the court proceedings, the defendant fully admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and entered into a plea deal with the prosecutor.
As a result, the court found the Mykolaiv resident guilty of evading military service during mobilization. He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment, but, thanks to the plea deal with the prosecutor, the accused was released from serving his prison sentence with a probation period of one year.
