Teachers of the Ukrainian language, ATO veterans, and journalists have been included in Russia's "execution lists," according to Budanov.
Russia had been preparing for the genocide of Ukrainians long before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and was compiling execution lists. This was stated by Major General Kyrylo Budanov, head of the GUR MO, during the forum "Genocidal Practices of the Russian Federation in Ukraine: From the Holodomor to the Russian-Ukrainian War," as reported by the intelligence agency on Saturday, November 23.
"We have witnessed horrific mass crimes against Ukrainian citizens, the facts of which have become known worldwide. The atrocities committed by Russian Armed Forces units in Borodyanka, Bucha, Hostomel, Izyum, Mariupol, and many other towns in Ukraine demonstrate that these identical and synchronized actions were based on clear doctrinal positions of the Russian government's and military leadership's genocidal policy," he stated.
According to Budanov, the execution lists were meant to include teachers of the Ukrainian language, literature, and history, ATO veterans, journalists, scholars, writers, priests from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and other denominations supporting Ukraine, as well as public and political figures, leaders of state and local government bodies.
Additionally, he noted that Russia's preparations for the genocide of the Ukrainian people included the creation of mobile crematoria and planned mass burials. Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian occupiers were instructed on the locations of mass graves.
