The government has authorized the purchase of generators for schools using state subsidies.

The government has revised the procedure for allocating state subsidies to local communities for enhancing the educational environment. Now, funds can also be used for purchasing generators. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, as reported by «Osvitoria».

«Now these funds can be spent not only on equipping shelters but also on purchasing generators for schools», – clarified Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, last summer over 80% of Ukrainian schools had generators. They were previously purchased by local authorities.

Denys Shmyhal added that the priority for the government remains the safety of students and offline learning.

«This year, we are allocating 1.6 billion UAH for the purchase of about 460 school buses. This will ensure transportation for approximately 30,000 students to educational institutions», – the Prime Minister added.

Throughout 2023-2024, communities and schools have procured 1,007 school buses via the Prozorro Market. At the end of last year, 2.8 billion UAH was allocated for a program providing free hot meals for younger students and 150 million UAH in subsidies for regions to enhance teacher qualifications.
