Out of the approximately 177 billion dollars in approved American aid, Ukraine has received no more than 76 billion dollars. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during an interview with AP on February 2.
According to the president, from the funds allocated by the U.S. for assistance, Ukraine has received a smaller portion – just over 75 billion dollars. The total amount of aid to Ukraine from the U.S. is estimated at 177 billion dollars.
“So, 100 billion of these 177 billion (or even 200 billion, as some people say) we have never received, which is important. We are talking about specific things, because we received this not in cash, but in weapons – we received weapons worth over 70 billion… But when they say that Ukraine received 200 billion to support the army during the war – that’s not true. I don’t know where all this money is,” – stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
In response to a question about the cessation of funding for humanitarian programs from the U.S., the president reminded about the 200 million dollar program to support Ukrainian energy, programs in the medical and educational fields, as well as assistance with border processes. Zelensky noted that veteran and medical programs are “important to support during the war,” adding that Ukraine will be able to meet the financial needs of these programs.
“These 300-400 million (dollars) – that’s what the state received for these programs. We will cover this. I will cover it with Europeans or domestic resources,” – said the president.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, there are many humanitarian programs about which he knows “nothing.” However, the president suggested that organizations that left Ukraine following the onset of the full-scale war at the behest of the U.S. may have been funded by “various foundations.”
Recall that earlier Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Ukraine did not receive even half of the officially allocated weapons from the U.S. According to the president, Europe has helped Ukraine “no less than the U.S.”
