As a result of a drone attack carried out by Russia on the night of November 26, electricity supply was completely lost in Ternopil, and there were disruptions to the water supply. The city's public electric transport is also not operating. The city authorities are setting up heating points.

On the night of November 26, Ternopil and its surroundings were attacked by at least 5 UAVs. The region's air defense and mobile rapid response units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were actively engaged. The drones attempted to strike while approaching the city. The targets of the Russian drones were infrastructure facilities. After the first explosions, the city lost power, and residents reported disruptions in water supply and heating on social media. Around 3:00 AM, the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Negoda, reported that all services were "working to assess the extent of the damage and eliminate the consequences." He also added that no casualties occurred among the people during the attack.

"Firefighters and police are on the scene. Stable electricity supply is absent in Ternopil and other populated areas. Relevant services are working on resolving the issue,"noted the Ternopil Regional Military Administration.

In the morning of November 26, the JSC "Ternopiloblenergo" announced that the networks of the National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" were damaged due to the massive drone attack. "As a result, network restrictions are being imposed in the Ternopil region for consumers," – stated in a message from JSC "Ternopiloblenergo."

The mayor of Ternopil, Serhiy Nadal, reported that the UAVs damaged the electrical infrastructure that supplies the city. This led to issues with electric public transport, power outages, and water supply. As of 7:00 AM, water supply was expected to be restored in all residents' homes, reported the mayor Serhiy Nadal on his Telegram channel.

"Trolleybuses in Ternopil will temporarily not be in service. Buses will replace them: large buses will operate instead of trolleybus No. 11, and the maximum number of transport will be deployed on other routes," – stated in the announcement.

Currently, the municipal enterprise "Ternopilvodokanal" is gradually restoring centralized water supply; however, there may be low water pressure in apartments in high-rise buildings. Part of the water supply system will operate on generators. Regarding heat supply, most of the city's boiler houses are functioning, but if necessary, their operation will also be supported by generators. Individual heat points, which are partially supplied with electricity, will be disconnected, and heat will be supplied directly to the buildings. Gas supply for all consumers in the city is being maintained as usual.

Serhiy Nadal also added that schools and kindergartens will operate as usual. Those without centralized electricity supply will work with generators. Additionally, heating points are being established in the city. They will start operating at 8:00 AM at the following addresses:

  • 8 Mykola Lysenka St. – Ternopil City Territorial Center for Social Services (providing social services);
  • 45 Zluky Ave. - KP "Ternopil Center for Leisure and Youth Initiatives named after Dovzhenko";
  • 1 Pryvokzalnyi Square - Ternopil Station;
  • 11 Fedkovycha St. - KZ "Children's and Youth Plast Center".

The city council also reported that elevators in apartment buildings will not operate until electricity supply is fully restored. Medical institutions are functioning as usual, and if necessary, they are equipped with generators.
