Law enforcement officials have uncovered a serial arsonist targeting military recruitment centers and vehicles in Sumy. This was reported by the press service of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office on November 25.
Investigators found that a 35-year-old native of the Republic of Belarus, who has been living in Sumy for a long time, received a monetary offer through one of the messaging apps to set fire to military facilities and vehicles. Throughout November, he set fire to two military recruitment center buildings and three vehicles belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The arsonist used a flammable mixture to carry out the attacks.
“The man meticulously documented the consequences of his criminal acts and sent video reports to his clients, hoping for generous payment,” the statement reads.
It is known that the buildings targeted by the 35-year-old resident of Sumy did not suffer significant damage; however, the military vehicles were virtually destroyed. The Sumy Prosecutor's Office adds that the perpetrator is currently in custody.
