Following the ousting of Assad's regime, mass graves continue to be discovered in Syrian provinces during search operations. This was reported on Sunday, January 5, by TRT Haber.
In the settlement of Nakharin in the Aleppo province of Syria, yet another mass grave has been found. The remains likely belong to civilians who were killed by Assad's regime.
“Mass graves continue to be uncovered during search and verification operations across the country. Civil defense groups and the police in Aleppo discovered a new mass grave in the village of Nakharin in Aleppo,” the report states.
It is known that approximately 1,500 bodies were found in the mass grave.
Recall that on December 8, the rebels of "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" announced the liberation of the Syrian capital, Damascus. Subsequently, opposition representative Hadi al-Bahra declared the fall of Bashar Assad's government. He assured that the opposition would not repress representatives of the former regime and that a peaceful transfer of power would occur “in cooperation with the UN.”
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled the country after negotiations with “other participants in the armed conflict” and issued instructions for a peaceful transfer of power. It later became known that the Russians helped stage an aircraft crash to facilitate his escape.
The head of the human rights organization "Syrian Emergency Response Group," Mouaz Mustafa, reported on December 17 about a mass grave near Damascus in Syria, where the bodies of at least 100,000 tortured individuals were found.
