In the Sheptytska community, wolves and foxes will be hunted for over a month.

The forestry and hunting management authorities state that this is for the safety of the residents.
В Шептицькой общине в течение месяца будут отстреливать волков и лисиц.

The Sheptytska City Council announced on Thursday, January 9, that from January 11 to February 23, hunting teams will be culling predatory animals in several hunting areas.

“In the hunting areas No. 1, 2, and 3, the culling of game animals, specifically wolves, foxes, and other harmful animals, will take place during daylight hours, outside forested areas, and at least 200 meters away from the boundaries of populated areas,” the announcement states.

The city council notes that the hunters possess the appropriate permits from the Western Interregional Department of Forestry and Hunting Management.

The department reiterates that culling wolves, foxes, as well as stray cats and dogs, and gray crows is necessary to regulate predator populations and prevent the spread of dangerous diseases, such as rabies.

According to data from the department as of September 2023, there were 214 wolves and 3,227 foxes in the Lviv region.

Additionally, it is noted that during November and December, wild animal culling was also conducted in other hunting areas within the Sheptytska community.

As reported by ZAXID.NET, at the end of 2023-2024, animal culling was conducted in other communities. In the Sokilnytska community, following public outcry and pressure, animal culling was prohibited.
