A German citizen is suspected of selling specialized machinery to Russians, which could have been utilized in military factories for weapon production. This was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, November 27.
Polish law enforcement has uncovered a German individual who was trading technological equipment with Russia through his company. This involves the sale of specialized machinery, which the Russians subsequently used in military enterprises.
“On Wednesday, Poland announced that it had detained a German citizen and accused the suspect of mediating and exporting dual-use goods to Russia,” the statement reads.
Following the exposure, the detained individual admitted his guilt and submitted a request for voluntary consent to punishment. Meanwhile, Poland's internal security agency has opened a case regarding violations of the sanctions regime.
The detained person may face criminal liability. Representatives of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in contact with Polish authorities to clarify the details.
Sanctions Against Russia
Recall that the Financial Times reported that Russia has increased its shadow fleet by 70% despite sanctions. The volume of oil transported by this fleet rose from 2.4 to 4.1 million barrels per day.
In October, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, reported that through intermediary companies, the Russians are acquiring Western dual-use electronic components. Shell companies are also used to form a shadow fleet of LNG tankers and transport liquefied natural gas.
