The Ministry of Education appointed a new Deputy Minister for Early Childhood Education.

On Tuesday, February 25, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the nomination of Anastasia Konovalova for the position of Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. She will focus on the area of preschool education, reports the Ministry of Education and Science.

Her portfolio includes the launch of national pilot projects aimed at expanding access to preschool education and the initiation of programs to support children and preschool education workers in frontline regions,” noted Minister Oksen Lisovyi.

Anastasia Konovalova will concentrate on addressing the following issues:

  • improving the quality and accessibility of preschool education, as well as enhancing the working conditions of preschool education staff;
  • strengthening collaboration between the education, health, and social protection sectors for comprehensive support of preschool children;
  • supporting the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Preschool Education”;
  • developing an effective and accessible system of inclusive education services.

Anastasia Konovalova has worked as an English teacher in kindergartens and primary schools, and as a manager of a network of private schools and kindergartens. She served as an education consultant for the World Bank (Bucharest, Romania), where she organized Ukrainian educational hubs for displaced children. From February 2024, she worked as a specialist in preschool and inclusive education at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). During this period, she implemented new types of preschool education in 45 communities; established a program for financial, psychological, and methodological support for 5000 workers in frontline areas; and initiated repairs for shelters in 62 kindergartens.
