The Tysmenytsia District Court found 4th-year student Yevhen Nedoliak from the Ivano-Frankivsk College of Technology and Business guilty of violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of the victim, and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.
The verdict was issued on February 24. It pertains to an accident that occurred on the evening of October 28, 2024, in the village of Radcha in the Ivano-Frankivsk community. 19-year-old Yevhen Nedoliak, driving a Ford Sierra under the influence and without a driver's license, struck a 65-year-old cyclist traveling in the same direction at a speed of 85-100 km/h. The local resident succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
During the court session, Yevhen Nedoliak admitted his guilt, confirmed that he was driving under the influence, and apologized to the deceased's family. They insisted on a strict punishment for the accused.
After reviewing all the case materials, Judge Maria Khomylets found the student from the Ivano-Frankivsk college guilty of violating traffic safety rules that led to the victim's death and sentenced him to 6 years in prison, along with a 5-year driving ban. An appeal may be filed against the verdict.
