On Sunday, January 5, an accident occurred on the "Western Bypass of Lviv," near the village of Sokilnyky. There are casualties and one fatality as a result of the collision. This information was reported by the police in the Lviv region.
According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, a collision occurred between a Renault Megane, driven by a 35-year-old resident of Lviv, and a Volkswagen Passat, operated by a 24-year-old Lviv resident.
As a result of the accident, both drivers and a passenger in the Renault Megane, a 60-year-old man from Lviv, sustained injuries and were transported to medical facilities. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the passenger of the vehicle passed away in the hospital.

Following the accident, investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalties outlined in this article include imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, along with a prohibition on operating vehicles for up to three years, or without such a prohibition. Law enforcement officials are determining the circumstances of the incident.
