On Friday, February 28, the High Anti-Corruption Court rejected the appeal from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) against Volodymyr Khymych, the head of the Verkhnokoropetska village council in the Zakarpattia region, and his wife, regarding the recognition of assets as unjustified and their confiscation for state revenue.
This concerns a house and a land plot valued at 2.6 million UAH in Mukachevo, which Volodymyr Khymych's wife purchased in January 2022. Given the family's expenses and income disclosed in the official's declaration, law enforcement considers the real estate acquisition unjustified.
“The court found the evidence presented by the defendants more convincing compared to the evidence from the plaintiff. Additionally, the court established that the head of the Verkhnokoropetska village council violated financial control requirements and provided inaccurate information regarding the financial assets held by his family during the declaration filing”, noted the High Anti-Corruption Court.
The court's decision will take effect after the expiration of the appeal submission period.
It is worth mentioning that Volodymyr Khymych has been leading the Verkhnokoropetska village council for three consecutive terms since November 2010. In addition to the seized real estate, his family owns over ten land plots, several shops, and non-residential premises.
