The Railway District Court of Lviv has issued sentences to Dmytro Polischuk and serviceman Mykyta R., who assisted draft evaders in leaving the country for $10,000. Dmytro Polischuk was fined over 200,000 UAH, while Mykyta R. received a 2-year probation period. Their paid bails will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the case materials, entrepreneur Dmytro Polischuk and serviceman Mykyta R. organized an illegal scheme to smuggle conscripted men across the state border. In February 2024, near the "Metro" shopping center on Hordotska Street, Mykyta R. received $10,000 for helping a draft evader. In exchange for this money, he promised to assist with the exit through the "Shlyakh" system and to prepare the necessary documents. The investigation revealed that his accomplice, Dmytro Polischuk, orchestrated the illegal scheme.
In February, the police and the Security Service of Ukraine arrested the 22-year-old serviceman and his 34-year-old accomplice on suspicion of smuggling draft evaders. In November, both men entered into a plea agreement with the prosecution.
Considering the circumstances of the case, Judge Bohdan Heds of the Railway District Court found Dmytro Polischuk guilty under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and imposed a fine of over 200,000 UAH. His bail of 242,300 UAH will also be transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The court sentenced Mykyta R. to 5 years of imprisonment but replaced the incarceration with a 2-year probation period. His bail of 242,300 UAH will likewise be transferred to the special account of the National Bank for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These sentences can be appealed.
