It has been revealed how much the installation of "turbo rings" in Mykolaiv cost
The project for creating "turbo rings" at roundabouts in Mykolaiv has sparked mixed reactions among drivers: many believe that the new markings have only complicated traffic flow.
“Novosti-N” sought to determine the financial impact of this innovative initiative on the city budget.
According to a response to an information request from “Novosti-N,” Deputy Mayor Yuriy Andriyenko reported that in June 2023, the Municipal Specialized Installation and Maintenance Enterprise developed a traffic organization scheme, which was approved in September 2023 by the Patrol Police Department in the Mykolaiv region. The scheme includes two "turbo rings": Central Avenue – Kherson Highway – Bogoyavlensky Avenue and Bogoyavlensky Avenue – Border Street – Peace Avenue, along with the section of the road connecting them. The cost of the ordered scheme amounted to 41,275.00 UAH.
The costs for setting up the "turbo rings" were as follows:
- at the roundabout at Central Avenue – Kherson Highway – Bogoyavlensky Avenue - 41,292.00 UAH.
- at the roundabout at Bogoyavlensky Avenue – Border Street – Peace Avenue - 59,102.00 UAH.
“The total cost for the installation of the two 'turbo rings,' including the services for the development of the traffic organization scheme, road paint, and materials, amounted to 141,669.00 UAH,” Andriyenko stated.
As previously reported, specialists from the Municipal Specialized Installation and Maintenance Enterprise, in collaboration with the design organization "Agrofon-Projekt" and the Patrol Police Department in the Mykolaiv region, developed a traffic scheme referred to as "Turbo Ring" or "Turbo Carousel."
A "Turbo Ring" is a type of roundabout with spiral lanes that allows drivers to select the appropriate lane for their route before entering the roundabout. Drivers need to carefully determine the correct lane choice by using road signs and horizontal markings.
It was previously reported that Mykolaiv residents are complaining about the new road markings.
At the same time, Mayor Senkevych recommended that drivers "follow the arrows."
