In Mykolaiv, the deputy head of the depot and the train drivers were stealing diesel fuel - members of the criminal group have been notified of suspicion.

This has been reported by the police and the prosecutor's office of Mykolaiv region.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Mykolaiv City District Prosecutor's Office, members of the criminal group - the deputy head, six drivers, and an assistant from the "Mykolaiv" locomotive depot of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" have been exposed and notified of suspicion.

They are accused of seizing someone else's property through abuse of office, committed repeatedly, under martial law, by an organized group (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the deputy head of the locomotive depot organized a criminal group that systematically stole diesel fuel from locomotives. He created conditions under which only trusted individuals were allowed to work on the locomotives. After each trip, they left excess fuel in the locomotive's tank, ranging from 100 to 600 liters.

The offenders drained diesel fuel from the locomotives into cans, transported it to storage locations, where they transferred it into barrels, and then sold it to local residents. The proceeds were shared among themselves.

Law enforcement detained the members of the criminal group in accordance with article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During searches at the residences of the suspects, at fuel storage sites, and in their vehicles, more than 4,500 liters of diesel fuel, dozens of empty cans, equipment for draining fuel, cash, and "black" records were seized. Additionally, 32 vehicles used by the members of the criminal group for transporting diesel fuel were confiscated.

At the request of the prosecution, the court has chosen preventive measures for six suspects in the form of detention with the possibility of bail ranging from 800 thousand hryvnias to 3.1 million hryvnias, while two others are under house arrest.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Mykolaiv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region.
