On the morning of Wednesday, January 8, workers from the municipal enterprise "Mykolaiv Parks" are trimming trees on Soborna Street in Mykolaiv.

This was reported by Dmitry Ryabchenko, a freelance inspector from the State Ecological Inspection of the Southwestern District.

“And already from early morning, the marauders from the ‘Parks’ enterprise continue their barbaric trimming. The mayor and the city authorities clearly do not care about your outrage. Everything here is done solely according to his whims… Soborna Street is doomed. The destroyers have reached it as well. Is it really acceptable when absolutely all citizens are against it—yet this tyranny continues just to spite us? Is this how the authorities respond to the community??,” he wrote on social media.

Police officers and representatives of the State Ecological Inspection of the Southwestern District arrived at the scene, along with the director of the enterprise, Dmitry Chuchmay. Locals filmed their interaction.

City council member Alla Ryazhskikh posted on her Facebook page:

“In our city, there is a tradition of ruining it with misguided decisions from officials, hired workers, and those working at the expense of residents' taxes. Once again, there is chaos and arbitrariness on Soborna, and once again the State Ecological Inspection of the Southwestern District is fulfilling its duties,” she wrote, urging the immediate convening of meetings for the ecological and legal commissions.

Later, she added that tomorrow, the director of "Mykolaiv Parks," Dmitry Chuchmay, would be summoned to an urgent meeting of the permanent commission on ecological issues at 14:00.

“He will have to change his location a bit and prove the legality of his actions regarding the implementation of environmental legislation, including violations of Ukraine's law on protected natural areas, as well as the blatant violation of Ukraine's law ‘On the Status of Deputies of Local Councils,’” she wrote.
