In Bukovina, six border crossing points are being upgraded with funds from the USAID project "Economic Support for Ukraine". Specifically, 28 modular structures will be installed to ensure a comfortable working environment for border guards. The buildings will be equipped with all necessary facilities to expedite border and customs control processes. Currently, two such structures have already been established at the "Porubne - Siret" crossing point.
The upgrades at the border crossing points are being carried out as part of the international USAID project "Economic Support for Ukraine". New modular structures will be installed at the border crossings with Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
"The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of crossing points, reduce waiting times for travelers, and create comfortable conditions for the staff of the State Customs and State Border Services," – reported the Bukovina Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service on Wednesday, January 8.
Currently, two such structures have been installed. An additional 26 will be placed at other border control points.
"Two modular buildings have already been set up at the international automobile crossing point 'Porubne - Siret'. These structures are the first of 28 that will be installed at the crossing points: 'Rossoshany - Brichen', 'Vashkivtsi - Grimenkeuts', 'Mamaliga - Kryva', 'Sokiriany - Oknitsa', and 'Kelmentsi - Larga', – the Bukovina Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service reported on Wednesday, January 8.
Since the beginning of 2023, 62 permanent modular buildings have already been installed at six automobile border crossing points in Ukraine with the project funds from USAID. An additional 121 modules are in the process of being procured or installed at 21 crossing points along Ukraine's western and southern borders. "174 of these 183 modular structures are equipped to provide customs and passport services. The structures feature thermal insulation, making them comfortable even during extreme weather conditions," – stated the message from the "Economic Support for Ukraine" Project on their Facebook page.
Each modular building will also be furnished, equipped with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, and connected to engineering communications – electricity, water, and internet networks.
The project is planned to continue until 2026, with a budget of $115 million allocated for the period from 2023 to 2026. This modernization of border crossing points aims to improve trade and expedite customs procedures.
