On Wednesday, November 27, Donetsk's "Shakhtar" suffered a defeat against the Dutch PSV in the 5th round of the Champions League. Despite the pressure from the opponents, the "Miners" quickly took the lead and went into halftime with a two-goal advantage. Throughout the second half, the Ukrainians defended masterfully, igniting hope for a positive outcome in the hearts of their fans. However, they could not withstand the onslaught: in the final minutes, the Dutch managed to complete a comeback, scoring three times within 8 minutes.

Champions League, 5th Round

PSV (Netherlands) – "Shakhtar" (Ukraine) – 3:2

Goals: Tilman, 87, 90, Pepi, 90+5 – Sikan, 8, Zubkov, 37

Red Card: Pedro Enrique, 70

The match began with the hosts attacking, eager to score an early goal. In the 6th minute, Bakayoko shot from outside the box towards the far post – Riznyk leaped to parry it, and a "miner" player was first to the rebound. In the 8th minute, "Shakhtar" unexpectedly took the lead. Riznyk passed to Konoplya, who sped down the right flank, linked with Zubkov, and crossed into the box – under pressure from a defender, Sikan managed to reach the ball and nudged it into the far corner. The goalkeeper grazed the ball with his fingertips as he fell, but it still found its way into the net.

In the 16th minute, Matviyenko found Kevin with a pass; the goalkeeper saved his shot, and Kryskiv's follow-up went just past the right post. Midway through the half, Bondarenko advanced to the edge of the box and shot from under a defender – but it was off target. The hosts continued to tear through the Donetsk defense, but Riznyk performed flawlessly at the back. "Shakhtar" also had its moments, transitioning well from defense to attack, but they lacked just a bit in the final stage to finish.

In the 37th minute, Konoplya once again played perfectly on the right flank, winning the ball from an opponent and crossing to Zubkov on the edge of the box. Oleksandr feinted a defender and curled it into the far corner – 0:2. Right before halftime, Matviyenko could have made it even worse, but he headed over the crossbar from a cross.

After the break, PSV continued to apply pressure, but the "Shakhtar" defense pleasantly surprised, acting selflessly and cohesively, like a well-oiled machine – such play from the "miners" was only previously seen in the UPL. In the 58th minute, Pedro Enrique nearly scored a third goal – after a rebound, he shot from outside the box, but the ball flew past the left post. At the halfway point of the second half, the Brazilian finally made his mark in the match, receiving a red card – the 22-year-old defender went in with a straight leg on an opponent and left "Shakhtar" with ten men.

With 3 minutes remaining in the match, the Dutch earned a free kick on the right flank – Tilman shot from almost a zero angle under the near post, and Riznyk caught the ball just behind the line. In the final minute, Tilman completed his double with a powerful shot from about 20 meters into the top corner. In the fifth minute of added time, everything fell into place – Pepi finished a pass at the near post, sealing "Shakhtar's" fate and the fans' dreams of a positive result.

The defeat left Marino Pusic's team with 4 points in 26th place in the Champions League standings. PSV gained 8 points and climbed to 18th place.
