The Security Service of Ukraine has neutralized the activities of the pro-Russian organization "Workers' Front of Ukraine," whose members engaged in subversive activities in Ukraine and called for uprisings. Law enforcement officials detained the organizers of five cells, as reported by the SBU press service on Saturday, February 1.

According to the investigation, the perpetrators, under the guise of neo-communist ideas, urged Ukrainians to rise against the authorities and advocated for not resisting the Russian occupiers.

“Among other things, the individuals called on citizens of conscription age to evade mobilization, and encouraged active military personnel to disobey their commanders and desert. They also suggested that Ukrainian defenders unite into so-called ‘soldier committees’ for collective refusal to participate in combat on the front lines,” the SBU press service reported.

To spread pro-Russian narratives, the participants of the organization maintained social media pages that were followed by over 30,000 people. The "Workers' Front of Ukraine" page has the most subscribers on YouTube.

It is noted that, according to the Clarity Project, the organization was registered back in 2013. The organizers and members mentioned in the archived information about the "Workers' Front of Ukraine" were part of and organized communist, Marxist, and socialist organizations in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea. Notably, among the mentioned organizers is Pavel Tyshchenko, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the 3rd convocation from the Communist Party of Ukraine and the head of the pro-Russian organization "Labor Kharkiv."

Additionally, to agitate Ukrainians, the perpetrators widely distributed leaflets on the streets calling for the disruption of mobilization. It is reported that daily, members of the neo-communist organization visited over 30 addresses where they placed the propaganda leaflets. The leaflets were printed in underground "printing houses" in private residences.

“The Security Service detained five organizers of hostile cells during special operations in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions. All detainees are local residents aged between 20 and 32. Some of them are students, while others are employees of enterprises or unemployed individuals acting under the coordination of a representative from the Russian Federation, the so-called ‘trade union curator’ from Russia,” the SBU press service stated.

During searches, large quantities of propaganda, communist literature, as well as computers and mobile phones containing evidence of criminal activity were discovered.

Five detainees have been informed of suspicions under Part 2 of Article 28 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by conspiracy). Three of them have been placed in custody, while the court has assigned round-the-clock house arrest with electronic ankle bracelets for the other two. Measures are currently underway to hold all participants of the organization accountable.
