On the evening of Friday, February 28, Russian occupiers launched a massive drone strike on the central part of Kharkiv. As a result of the hits, there are damages to residential buildings, and a medical facility, where people were present, was also affected, reported Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. According to updated information, seven people were injured as a result of the strikes.
According to local authorities, there were at least five hits in the city. The most explosions were recorded in the Shevchenko district of Kharkiv, and the Kyiv district of the city was also affected.
“All hits were in the central part of Kharkiv,” – reported the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synehubov.
The attack resulted in damage to residential buildings – one of the drones fell near a high-rise building, shattering windows. A fire also broke out in the medical facility due to the drone strike. According to Ihor Terekhov, there was a fire there.
Nearly 60 people were evacuated from the medical center where chronically ill patients were located. There are no injured individuals at the scene.
Another strike occurred in the area near a gas station. Information regarding damages and casualties is being clarified.
“The Russian army launched at least 8 drones at the regional center. All targeted exclusively civilian infrastructure: Kyiv, Shevchenko, and Novobavarsky districts. Dozens of damaged buildings, and fires broke out at several impact sites involving buildings and vehicles,” – reported Synehubov later.
Currently, there is no information about casualties in the city. Rescuers and law enforcement officers have arrived at the impact sites. As of 23:50, the drone attack by the Russians is ongoing.
Updated 08:08. Ihor Terekhov reported that seven people were injured in Kharkiv as a result of the massive strike. Among the injured is a child.
Subsequently, the number of injured rose to 12 people. Among them are two children, as reported by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
It should be noted that an attack involving drones was also reported in the Odesa Regional Military Administration. As a result of a drone strike in the Odesa district, one person was killed and another was injured.
