Rheinmetall has delivered the first KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle to Ukraine.

The German infantry fighting vehicle is already being tested by the Defense Forces.

At the end of 2024, the German defense giant Rheinmetall delivered the latest infantry fighting vehicle, the KF41 Lynx, to Ukraine. This was reported by the company's CEO, Armin Papperger, as conveyed by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Tuesday, January 7.

It is noted that the first Lynx IFV delivered to the Ukrainian client was manufactured at the plant in the German community of Unterlüß.

The armed forces are currently testing it so that a series order can be placed as quickly as possible,” said the CEO of Rheinmetall.

Specifications of the KF41 Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle

In 2018, the German defense consortium Rheinmetall first unveiled the heavy infantry fighting vehicle Lynx. Its weight is approximately 44 tons, reports the Militerary portal.

  • Length of the KF41 IFV – 7.7 m;
  • Width – 3.6 m;
  • Height – 3.3 m.

The main armament of the infantry fighting vehicle is the LANCE turret with a 30 or 35-mm automatic cannon. The vehicle is also equipped with a machine gun and a launcher for anti-tank missiles, which can be tailored to the customer's requirements.

The IFV is protected against 30-mm projectiles in the frontal projection and against 14.5 mm on the sides.

It is powered by a Liebherr D9612 engine with an output of 1470 hp, with a maximum speed of 70 km/h. The road range is 500 km. The infantry fighting vehicle has a crew of three and can carry up to 8 troops.

As reported by ZAXID.NET, on January 6, the German defense consortium Rheinmetall announced that it would supply Ukraine with an additional 180,000 rounds of ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft systems. The order for the Ukrainian Defense Forces is fully financed by Germany.
