The last month of winter is heating up: new series are coming out about a hotel in Thailand, a new law firm in Los Angeles, secret letters from Jane Austen, and the last woman to be hanged in the UK. So, check out the most interesting highlights.
Miss Austen, premieres February 2, BBC
This adaptation of Gill Hornby's bestseller tells the story of Cassandra, the sister of the famous British writer Jane Austen.
Throughout their lives, the sisters maintained a close relationship until the author's death in 1817. After that, Cassandra burned most of the letters from her late sister. The story begins with Cassandra arriving at her friend Isabella's house to find her sister's personal correspondence, which she believes could ruin her reputation forever.
As she reads the discovered letters, the young woman plunges into a void of childhood memories, emotions, family conflicts, and shattered hopes that inspired the renowned writer.
The lead role is played by Keeley Hawes, known for her role as Louisa Durrell in “The Durrells,” while her sister Jane Austen is portrayed by Faye Marsay.
The White Lotus, premieres February 16, HBO Max, in the main photo
Even though the series is in its third season, we included it in the new releases because each season unfolds a separate story centered around various properties of a fictional hotel brand. Viewers have previously traveled with the characters to Hawaii and Sicily. This time, the events will take place in Thailand.
The plot revolves around a group consisting of representatives from different generations: a patriarch, a corporate leader, an actress, a pair of mothers, a wife from a country club, a loser, and a yoga instructor. Natasha Rothwell returns from the first season, joined by newcomers Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Dom Heffernan, Time Taptimthong, Christian Friedel, Morgana O'Reilly, and others.
The series has won five Emmy Awards, and work on the fourth season has already begun.
