After several days of searching in the Carpathians, the body of a 33-year-old tourist from Vinnytsia was discovered.

On the morning of January 6, near Mount Stih on the Svidovec ridge, emergency services discovered the body of a deceased traveler from Vinnytsia. His 22-year-old companion was successfully rescued. Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tourist's death.

As reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Transcarpathian region, the search for the missing tourists in Svidovec began on Saturday, January 4.

“At that time, the rescue service received a report that a tourist from Vinnytsia was lost near Mount Stih and needed assistance. After midnight, he was located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region by specialists from the mountain search and rescue unit of the village of Verkhovyna,” the State Emergency Service informs.

The 22-year-old explained to rescuers that he had been traveling with a friend whom he left in the forest by a campfire because he could not continue.

“Based on the provided coordinates, rescuers from the village of Vidrychka found no one. In the morning, the tourist sent approximate coordinates, and from there, rescuers from the village of Kvasy discovered the body of the 33-year-old traveler,” the State Emergency Service reported.

The body of the deceased was transported down and handed over to the police for delivery to the morgue in Rakhiv. Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tourist's death.
