Woken up in the middle of the night? An interesting eye-rolling trick might help you drift back to sleep.

To fall asleep, it's essential to close your eyes and perform a series of rotational movements. Eye-rolling, as noted by Dr. Willem Gilen, is associated with the release of melatonin, which regulates sleep and wake cycles.
Проснулись ночью? Попробуйте закатить глаза — этот простой трюк может помочь вам снова заснуть.

If you find yourself lying in the dark at 3 a.m. with your eyes wide open, struggling to fall asleep again, one unusual trick might help. As lifestyle expert Heather Gordon, who shares health and wellness content on TikTok under the name Pretty Sick Heather, suggests, in this case, you should try rolling your eyes, reports the Daily Mail.

According to her, this trick works every time.

For this exercise, you need to close your eyes and perform a series of rotational movements. Start by looking down and then bringing your gaze back to the center, then look to the left and return to the center, followed by looking to the right and back to the center. After that, look up and rotate your eyes clockwise first, then counterclockwise. Finally, direct your gaze towards your nose as if you are "cross-eyed."

"I’ve never made it through more than two cycles of this without falling asleep," she shared.

Comments under the video are filled with messages from users claiming that this life hack helped them.

"It took me 3 cycles, but you can feel yourself starting to fall asleep and getting drowsy," one user wrote.

Another noted that they used the tip while watching the video and ended up falling asleep. When they woke up, the video was still playing on repeat.

Danish cardiologist Dr. Willem Gilen wrote on the content platform Medium about the effectiveness of this method, explaining that rolling your eyes is linked to the release of melatonin—the hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. Thus, by consciously rolling your eyes, a person can trigger this natural process and prompt their body to initiate the sleep cycle.
