The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) together with the National Police located and detained three Russian agents who planted and detonated explosives near the building of the Pavlohrad District Military Commissariat in Dnipropetrovsk region. Law enforcement officers tracked down the offenders within a day, as reported by the SBU press service on Wednesday, February 5.

The members of the terrorist group, who detonated an improvised explosive device near the Military Commissariat on February 2, were apprehended in Dnipro and the Odesa region. According to law enforcement, the explosion was intended to discredit the activities of the Military Commissariat and disrupt mobilization in the region at the behest of the Russians.

Three men aged 21 and 22 were detained, who had been recruited by Russian special services through Telegram channels promising easy earnings. One of the offenders, a resident of Pavlohrad, independently constructed the explosive device and placed it in a hiding spot near his home.

“It has been established that the explosives were filled with nails and nuts to enhance the impact during detonation. The other two agents, residents of Odesa region, arrived in Pavlohrad where they received the coordinates of the hiding place. From there, they picked up a package with the explosives and planted it near the Military Commissariat building,” – reported the SBU press service.

Opposite the Military Commissariat building, the men also set up a hidden camera intended to capture the aftermath of the explosion. The explosives were activated via a call to a mobile phone.

As a result of the explosion near the Military Commissariat, a 24-year-old serviceman was injured. The terrorists themselves went into hiding in their apartments in Dnipro and Odesa regions, waiting for payment from the Russians.

Law enforcement apprehended the men at their place of residence and informed them of the suspicion under part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorism). The offenders face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Currently, law enforcement is addressing the issue of choosing a preventive measure for them.
