Police apprehended a drunk driver of a Volvo involved in an accident in Yavoriv.

In Yavoriv, police apprehended a driver who caused an accident while under the influence of alcohol. As a result of the crash, two individuals were injured.

According to police reports, the accident occurred on January 10 at 18:40 in Yavoriv. On the Yavoriv – Hrusheva road, a 38-year-old local resident driving a Volvo XC70 crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding with a Volkswagen Sharan driven by a 59-year-old resident of the district center.

As a result of the accident, two female passengers of the Volkswagen Sharan, aged 29 and 55 and residents of Yavoriv, sustained injuries. They were hospitalized. Investigators determined that the driver of the Volvo XC70 was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was detained, and a court will soon decide on a preventive measure.

In connection with the incident, investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (violation of traffic safety rules while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The driver faces up to 3 years of imprisonment for the offense.
