MPs are calling for the dismissal of Herman Halushchenko from his position as Minister of Energy.

The dismissal of Herman Halushchenko was preceded by his conflict with MP Inna Sovsun.
Народные депутаты требуют уволить Германа Галущенко с поста министра энергетики.

Members of Parliament have initiated the procedure to dismiss Herman Haluschenko from the position of Minister of Energy. This was reported on Friday, January 10, by MPs Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Inna Sovsun.

According to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the MPs demand the dismissal of Herman Haluschenko due to "systemic corruption in the energy sector" and "ignoring challenges during parliamentary and committee meetings." Among the reasons, Yaroslav Zheleznyak also noted "unacceptable behavior of the minister during the question hour to the government."

Prior to this, during the question hour to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, according to MP from the "Holos" faction and member of the Energy Committee Inna Sovsun, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP was agreed upon with the Americans. To this, Inna Sovsun responded: "As committee members, we received messages from representatives of the European Commission delegation and from representatives of the American embassy, who are concerned that information is emerging in the public domain suggesting that both sides support this project. In reality, such support does not exist. They would like to avoid such manipulations in the future."

According to Inna Sovsun, Herman Haluschenko, in response, referred to the representatives of the European Commission as "mid-level clerks" and claimed that she "runs around embassies and tarnishes our energy sector and our country."

In her Facebook post, Inna Sovsun noted that cooperation with embassies is part of her job and described the Minister of Energy as a "weak person," as he, in her opinion, "resorts to personal attacks."

"Today's situation is evidence that Haluschenko can no longer even pretend to be adequate and professionally competent. Now he simply lashes out at people, is rude, and burns bridges with international partners," wrote Inna Sovsun.

Later, the Ministry of Energy stated that Herman Haluschenko's remark, recorded in the transcript of the meeting, does not pertain to the words of the EU ambassador to Ukraine: "Unfortunately, the issue of constructing energy units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP has become a subject of manipulation, including by certain opposition MPs of the Verkhovna Rada and experts. In particular, within the framework of relevant public discussions, private correspondence of mid-level diplomats, who are not authorized to express the official position of the EU or member states, was used. It was this correspondence that the minister referred to in his report."

Recall that on April 2, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft law that provides for the completion of energy units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.

On December 17, 2024, the EU ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, in a comment to "European Truth," informed that the draft law on the completion of energy units was developed without consultations with the EU, and therefore the European Union will not provide funding for the completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
