In Transcarpathia, a businessman will pay a fine of 3 million UAH for fraud related to the import of solar panels.

The Vynohradiv District Court found the former director of LLC "Solars Ukraine," Oleksandr Kubankin, guilty of fraud aimed at obtaining benefits. For the forgery of documents during the importation of solar panels into Ukraine, the resident of Zakarpattia was fined 3.1 million UAH.

As stated in the court ruling issued on February 25, Oleksandr Kubankin, while serving as the director of LLC "Solars Ukraine," provided a forged extract from the register of single tax payers in May 2022. This document was used to obtain a VAT exemption for the importation of 5 containers of solar panels into Ukraine. As a result, the state incurred losses amounting to 3 million 154 thousand UAH.

During the court hearing, Oleksandr Kubankin admitted his guilt and explained that he had not submitted a request to change the tax system. According to him, the company had been continuously exporting solar panels from abroad and at that time did not have a chief accountant familiar with export procedures. Therefore, they decided to engage an outside organization without an official contract. The accused used an electronic key to obtain the extract from the State Tax Service and submitted it to customs himself. He realized something had gone wrong when he was summoned for questioning.

After hearing witnesses from the State Tax Service and customs, and reviewing all the case materials, Judge Volodymyr Lenyo found Oleksandr Kubankin guilty of fraud aimed at obtaining benefits and imposed a fine of 3.1 million UAH, along with a two-year prohibition from holding managerial positions related to organizational, administrative, and economic functions. An appeal may be filed against the ruling.

According to the analytical portal Youcontrol, LLC "Solars Ukraine," founded in the village of Pidvyhrodiv, Berehiv district, has now been renamed LLC "Solars Re Energy Group." Since 2016, the company has implemented over 1300 projects in renewable energy and has representations in Germany and Georgia, as well as solar panel production under its own brand in China.
