The Tysmenytsia District Court found former deputy of the Kolodiivka village council, Vasyl Ivankiv, guilty of failing to submit a declaration and sentenced him to one year of imprisonment, along with a prohibition on holding positions in local government for one year. The actual prison term was replaced by a one-year probation.
The case of Vasyl Ivankiv has been considered in various courts since October 2024. Initially, the Tysmenytsia District Court released the former deputy from criminal liability due to a change in circumstances. On December 16, 2024, the appellate court overturned this ruling and scheduled a new hearing.
As stated in the court's verdict issued on February 20, Vasyl Ivankiv was elected as a deputy of the Kolodiivka village council in November 2015. After the expiration of his term in 2020, he was required to submit a declaration, but he failed to do so. During the court session, Vasyl Ivankiv admitted his guilt and explained that he did not disclose the declaration due to his negligence. The court also took into account that the accused has a disability of the third group and actively participates in the parish life of the community.
On January 17, 2025, the former deputy entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor. As a result, Judge Serhiy Kuzmenko sentenced Vasyl Ivankiv to one year of imprisonment with a prohibition on holding positions in local government for one year. The actual prison term was replaced with one year of probation. According to the NACP, the convicted individual published the declaration for the year 2020 in October 2024.
