On Thursday, February 27, a 72-year-old woman lost her life during a grass fire in the village of Nestanychi, part of the Radekhiv community in Lviv Oblast.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast, the body of the 72-year-old woman was discovered in the village of Nestanychi, amidst the charred grass.
“The relatives, stepping out into the yard, were stunned, as where grandmother walked just yesterday, there was only ash left. We do not know the details of the tragedy, but we know for sure: the fire took her life,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast stated.
Rescuers added that on February 27, they responded to approximately 150 dry grass fires across Lviv Oblast.
“Every year in Ukraine, dozens of people perish in similar fires. Some attempt to extinguish the flames on their own, others do not manage to escape, and some become victims of their own carelessness. All of this is due to the destructive habit of burning dry grass remnants,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast added.
