In Mykolaiv region, a drunken soldier threw a grenade onto the premises of a military enlistment center.

In Mykolaiv region, a serviceman who left his unit without permission threw a grenade onto the territory of one of the local military recruitment and social support centers. The explosion damaged two service vehicles, reported the press service of the central district court of Mykolaiv on Friday, February 28.

According to the investigation, a 43-year-old man, who had left his military service unit without permission, threw a grenade into the building of the military recruitment center at the end of February 2025. It is noted that the serviceman was under the influence of alcohol.

“The man, negatively perceiving the activities of the territorial recruitment and social support centers, while in a state of intoxication, threw an F-1 hand grenade onto the territory of one of the recruitment centers in the Voznesensk district.
As a result of the explosion, two service vehicles of the recruitment center were damaged, making their further operation impossible,” – stated the court's press service.

It is noted that during the court hearing, the serviceman explained that he threw the grenade after a quarrel with his wife. He admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and claimed that he “found the grenade among his belongings” in his backpack.

The man was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations). He faces up to eight years in prison. The serviceman has been placed in custody without the possibility of bail.
