Two officials from the Mykolaiv City Council were detained for bribery in Lviv region.

Operatives from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police have detained Ilya Terekh, the Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv in Lviv Oblast, and the Chief Accountant Ella Kulchytska-Kostyk on suspicion of bribery. The fact of the officials' detention was confirmed by the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police to ZAXID.NET.

According to law enforcement, Deputy Mayor Ilya Terekh and Chief of the Accounting and Economic Support Department Ella Kulchytska-Kostyk demanded kickbacks from a businessman to avoid creating artificial obstacles regarding the acceptance and delivery of goods, as well as timely fund transfers according to the expenditure invoices.

The Chief Accountant was detained on January 3 while receiving the second part of a bribe amounting to 17,000 UAH. The money was intended for Deputy Ilya Terekh.

The detained individuals are being prepared for charges and the selection of preventive measures. ZAXID.NET attempted to obtain a comment from Mykolaiv Mayor Andriy Shchebel regarding the bribery arrest of his subordinates, but the mayor did not respond to calls.
