On February 27, following its Ukrainian premiere at the "Evenings of French Cinema" festival, the new film "Fanfare" directed by Emmanuel Courcol, an award-winning director from the European Film Academy and a César nominee, will be released in theaters. Ukrainian audiences are already familiar with the director's previous work, the film "Triumph." The official Ukrainian trailer for his new film has already been released.
The main character, Thibaut, is a renowned conductor who suddenly discovers that he was adopted. A cafeteria worker and amateur trombonist, Jimmy, is his younger brother, of whose existence he was previously unaware. A successful musician and a failure, it seems there is nothing in common between the brothers except their love for music. However, noticing Jimmy's talent, Thibaut is determined to change his fate.
The world premiere of the film took place at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
The leading roles are played by well-known French actors Benjamin Lavernhe, who audiences might recognize from films like "The French Dispatch," "Strawberry," and "Odyssey," as well as Pierre Lottin, known for the series "Lupin" and the films "Triumph" and "By God's Will." For this role, the actors showcased not only their acting skills but also their musical talents: Benjamin Lavernhe learned to conduct an orchestra, while Pierre Lottin mastered playing the trombone.
