A resident of Lviv region was sentenced to prison for falsely claiming a bomb threat at the train station.

The man is a repeat offender who was granted early parole to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but he has committed another crime.

The Lviv Railway District Court has sentenced soldier Yuriy K. for making false bomb threat reports regarding the Lviv railway station and a hotel. The accused is a repeat offender who was released on parole to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Considering the previous sentence, he was given a term of 5 years and 9 months in prison.

According to the verdict published in the court register in January 2025, Yuriy K., a resident of Lviv region and a shooter in the assault battalion of one of the military units, made several calls to the police in October 2024, reporting bomb threats at the main railway station in Lviv and at the "Suputnyk" hotel. The information turned out to be false, leading to a criminal case being opened against the false bomber. The police located and detained him.

In court, Yuriy K. admitted his guilt in committing the criminal offense. He is known to have a previous conviction, with his most recent offense being robbery. He had been released on parole to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The case was presided over by Judge Natalia Halayko, who reviewed all materials and arguments from both sides. She found soldier Yuriy K. guilty of making false bomb threats, sentencing him to 4 years in prison. This punishment was combined with the unserved part of his previous sentence, resulting in a total of 5 years and 9 months of imprisonment. The verdict can still be appealed.
