According to a new survey conducted by the Insa public opinion research institute for t-online, nearly half of German citizens do not support providing military or material assistance to Ukraine, reported "European Truth" on Tuesday, February 25.

The representative survey showed that 46% of Germans want the next federal government not to support Ukraine with either weapons or money. In contrast, 28% of respondents advocate for the next government to provide weapons and funds to Ukraine. Additionally, 7% of Germans wish to assist Ukraine only with financial aid, while another 8% prefer to send only weapons.

Regarding this issue, 6% remain undecided, and 3% of Germans are indifferent.

Among those opposed to supporting Ukraine, 51% are women and 40% are men. Conversely, 35% of men wish to continue providing military and material assistance to Ukraine, compared to only 22% of women.

Support for assistance is lower among the younger German population. The majority of Germans aged 18 to 29 (57%) want the next government to cease support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, only 28% of Germans over the age of 70 do not wish to send weapons or money to Ukraine.

Support for Ukraine is also higher in western Germany than in the east. In the west, 42% of respondents want to stop assistance, while in Eastern Germany, this figure rises to 61%. Additionally, 30% of Germans in the west and 21% in the east wish to continue supporting Ukraine with weapons and funds.

The survey results indicate that the party "Greens" shows the highest support for Ukraine, with 72% of its voters expressing the intention to continue supporting Ukraine both materially and militarily. Following them are 45% of voters from the Free Democratic Party, as well as a third of Union voters. Conversely, the majority of supporters of the "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) and the Alliance of Sahra Wagenknecht advocate for stopping support for Ukraine (both at 79%).
